Shinbaum affirms Mexico will uphold joint border efforts
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that her country will continue the coordinated "mirror" operations with the United States along their border in Tamaulipas state, aimed at preventing incidents, especially after reports of American Coast Guard personnel being shot at in the area. She explained that the bilateral security cooperation remains based on the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and mutual trust, while maintaining communication channels with American authorities. These measures come after Mexico deployed 500 soldiers and National Guard members in coordinated patrols with the Americans, with an emphasis that these operations are conducted in accordance with national laws and principles.
