Red Crescent warns of winter risk for Gaza displaced
The Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza has warned of the worsening humanitarian situation for approximately 1.5 million internally displaced persons living in camps and shelters, who are suffering from severe shortages of food and medical supplies, as well as limited water access and a lack of proper shelter. The residents' suffering is escalating amidst ongoing Israeli blockades and attacks, especially with winter approaching, as the current conditions pose serious threats to the lives of these civilians. The international community has been urged to ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, with current assistance covering less than 30% of the necessary needs. Authorities also estimate that around 20,000 patients suffering from chronic illnesses face difficulties receiving treatment outside the sector due to mobility restrictions. Relief teams are encountering field obstacles caused by attacks, and the situation continues to deteriorate despite the ceasefire agreement reached in January 2026.
