The "Wall Street Journal" revealed that a first officer at Fly Dubai had planned in advance to carry out a terrorist attack aboard a flight headed to Israel, aiming to disable the aircraft and crash it into a target such as Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Omani authorities stopped him after suspicions of his extremism arose, and investigations showed that he had attempted to join flights heading to Israel and carry out an attack last July, but he withdrew due to concern for the fate of a crew member. These details come after an incident in June involving an assault inside the cockpit on a flight, where the first officer tried to take control of the aircraft using sharp tools. Authorities considered this an act of terrorism.
