Samah Abdel Qader and Khaled Hajj Ahmed on translation as a cultural bridge
Samaḥ ʿAbd al-Qādir and Khālid Ḥāj Aḥmad, the Tunisian researchers in Chinese studies, emphasize that translation is a vital bridge connecting Chinese and Arab civilizations. After studying in China, they founded a publishing house called Dar Maʿārif Sharqiyya dedicated to publishing Chinese and Arab works, and they have worked on translating cultural and literary pieces to promote cultural exchange between China, Tunisia, and the Arab world. They insist on the importance of learning the Chinese language among Tunisian youth to strengthen friendship and understanding between the two civilizations.
