Ex-Netanyahu aide shares attack warnings
A former senior aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the Israeli leader received internal warnings prior to the October 7 attacks. He pointed out that there are "huge gaps" between the information the security establishment was aware of and the reality that emerged later. He noted that warnings had been issued by officials such as Major General Avi Gil and security decisions, which warned of the erosion of Israeli deterrence and the increasing threats from Hamas. However, Netanyahu did not take sufficient action. Gil described how the security agencies understood that Israel’s enemies saw the divisions as an opportunity, and that there was intelligence indicating that officials received warnings of an imminent attack from Hamas, although Netanyahu denied these reports. Calls are now being made for a transparent investigation into potential shortcomings, especially amid sharp criticisms of Netanyahu's performance following revelations about the information and warnings that were not adequately addressed prior to the attacks.
