UAE AG: Flydubai suspect aimed at Ben Gurion airport
The investigation into the incident involving Fly Dubai flight FZ1073 revealed that the 29-year-old Omani suspect was planning to target the passenger terminal at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv with a suicidal attack, aiming to cause maximum casualties. The suspect had exploited two previous trips to surveil the airport and the route before attempting to carry out his plan on the third flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30. His radicalization began in 2017 during his studies in Australia, where he was influenced by extremist ideas, was inspired by the September 11 attacks, and planned to use an airplane to carry out his attack. During the attempt, he assaulted the pilot with an emergency axe, but the crew managed to regain control, and the flight landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. The investigations are still ongoing to uncover any potential accomplices, and the statement confirms that the suspect acted alone.
