US Criticizes Trump Sanctions on ICC
The United States has imposed new sanctions on the International Criminal Court, in an attempt to cripple its capabilities and prevent it from prosecuting Americans. Although the court is authorized to prosecute perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity, the move focused on threatening the court's resources and restricting its dealings. This has sparked widespread criticism, with many seeing it as an effort to pressure the international judiciary and undermine its independence. These sanctions are linked to the court's pursuit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, amid broad criticism of the court's apparent neglect in similar cases involving Russian officials. This highlights a discrepancy in how international justice issues are handled and raises questions about the motivations behind U.S. policies and its role in protecting Israeli interests at the expense of global principles of justice.
