Chinese FAST telescope finds young pulsar in triple system
A Chinese research team has discovered that the 500-meter aperture "FAST" radio telescope observed a pulsar within a tertiary system that is still evolving, located near a double system consisting of a white dwarf and a Sun-like star. This first-of-its-kind discovery reflects strong gravitational interactions among the objects and may contribute to testing gravitational theories and understanding the evolution of triple star systems. The system is rare, composed of three stars that developed from a single gas cloud, with the pulsar originating from a supernova explosion, while the other objects are still evolving steadily.
