Israel Apache deal blocked over budget disputes
The purchase deal between Israel and the United States for 12 Apache helicopters worth one billion dollars has been halted due to funding disagreements, despite attempts to secure additional financing from the United States. The deadline for orders expired on October 7th without completing the deal, which could lead to increased costs and delivery delays. This setback threatens other military procurement plans and affects Israel's efforts to build its military strength amid debates over the necessity of purchasing expensive helicopters versus opting for cheaper alternatives like drones. The crisis adds to the financial challenges facing the Israeli military, amid discussions to increase the defense budget and collaborate with Washington on military aid.
