French Player Upsets Shelton in Shanghai
American Ben Shelton lost in the quarterfinals of the Shanghai tournament to Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, ranked 56th in the world, with scores of 7-6 and 6-7, ending his hopes of defending his title. Rinderknech, 21 years old, is the most successful player of his professional career so far, achieving this victory through a distinguished performance that relied on focus and alertness, despite the effects of fatigue and exhaustion caused by travel and time zone changes. In the next round, Rinderknech will face either Argentine Francisco Cerundolo or Czech Jakub Menšík.
