Black Sea Incidents and Ankara-Moscow Ties
The article addresses the increasing attacks on ships associated with Turkey in the Black Sea, which directly target Ankara's interests and have resulted in at least two deaths and the detention of others. The Ukrainian and Bulgarian sides have accused Russia of carrying out these attacks. Reports confirm that Turkey's strong economic ties with Russia, amounting to $49.1 billion in 2025, make a complete severance unlikely. This is especially true given Ankara’s efforts to avoid escalating the conflict in the Black Sea and turning it into a confrontation arena between NATO and Russia.
