Kurdish Workers' Party fighters withdraw from Iraq camps
The process of dissolving the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Iraq has begun, as group fighters withdrew from four camps in northern Iraq, marking an initial step within the peace efforts approved by the Turkish parliament last August. These measures aim to end the decades-long conflict that has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and the destruction of predominantly Kurdish regions in Turkey. The new law allows former fighters to be integrated into social and economic programs after they cease armed activities, representing a significant development in the peace process between Turkey and the group.
