C-4 seizure raises Lebanon assassination concerns
The Lebanese army was able to seize a shipment of explosives estimated at around 200 kilograms, including highly explosive "C-4" material, which was smuggled from Syria into Lebanon in the Al-Hermel area in the Bekaa Valley and was headed to Beirut. This shipment is among three confiscated shipments since the beginning of the month and raises concerns about the potential use of explosives in possible assassinations, especially since "C-4" was previously used in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed that the government will not hesitate to pursue those involved and will launch an extensive investigation to identify the parties responsible, the purpose of smuggling the explosives, and will refer them to the judiciary to ensure appropriate punishment.
