Al-Shaybani: Israel Funds Groups in Sweida
SANA News Agency, citing Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Shibly, reported that Israel supports outlawed militant groups in the Sweida province in southern Syria, providing them with weapons and money to destabilize the country. Shibly also accused Israel of being responsible for the ongoing escalation since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, through infrastructure bombings and the occupation of new Syrian territories along the southern border, in addition to pursuing policies of displacement and arbitrary arrests, with the fate of dozens of Syrian detainees still unknown. Shibly called on the international community to intervene to stop Israeli practices, and urged a return to the 1974 ceasefire agreement, as well as respecting the Separation of Forces agreement signed between Syria and Israel, as part of efforts to promote stability and establish peace in the region.
