Trump May Cancel Live Broadcast of Hassan's Execution
President Donald Trump and his advisors discussed the possibility of canceling the plan to broadcast the execution of Nidal Hassan, the perpetrator of the Fort Hood attack, live via gunfire. This came after they learned that he is paralyzed due to a prior injury sustained during the incident, and that public airing of the execution could be used as a propaganda tool by terrorist groups. Trump had previously supported executing Hassan by firing squad and sought advice from the Pentagon on this decision. However, awareness of his health condition led to hesitation about carrying out a live execution, with concerns that the broadcast might be exploited to promote terrorist narratives, and that the transmission could be cut before the shots were fired. If carried out on December 3, it would be the first execution of its kind carried out by the U.S. military since World War II.
