Lebanese Official on Mouawad's Israeli Contact Trial
The Lebanese government confirmed that the complaint filed against Lebanon's Ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamadeh Mowad, which accuses her of communication with the Israeli ambassador, is not of an immediate judicial nature. It stated that legal procedures require official approval from the relevant minister, and that the ambassador's diplomatic mission was authorized by the Lebanese presidency in accordance with proper procedures. The complaint has also been referred to military justice to assess the appropriate course of action. Additionally, there has been criticism from the Trump administration, which expressed its displeasure with the shift to Lebanese military justice, reflecting tension in the relations between Lebanon and the United States over the matter.
