Netanyahu discusses call with Ahmed Al-Sharq
Reports reveal that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a conversation with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharq about a year ago, following Israel's bombing of the Syrian Ministry of Defense and strikes near the presidential palace in Damascus in July 2025. Since the ousting of Bashar Assad's government in December 2024, Israeli forces have expanded outside the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights, while their troops remain in southern Syria. Damascus, however, rejects this and considers it a violation of its sovereignty. Syria is currently negotiating with Israel in an effort to reach a security agreement, despite ongoing Israeli attacks and military escalation in the region.
