Al-Burhan Discloses Message to Trump on Sudan
Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, confirmed that his government sent a message to U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing their commitment to the peace efforts sponsored by the United States. He clarified that Sudan is prepared to work in good faith to achieve a just and lasting peace that preserves its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the dignity of its people. This statement comes amidst ongoing violent conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces militia since April 2023. The U.S. Embassy has expressed concern over al-Burhan's remarks, in which he stated that Sudan would not accept a ceasefire as long as the Rapid Support Forces remain present. Meanwhile, Trump has pledged to use his influence to end the two-year-old war, despite not planning to be directly involved in its resolution.
