Greenspan's Vision for UN Reform
Rebecca Greenspan, the leading candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, stated that the international organization has become overly cautious regarding risks. She called for the organization to bear the costs of diplomatic failures and to strive to attain peace once again. She emphasized the need to make the UN more proactive and to reduce bureaucracy, focusing on core tasks without relying solely on cost-cutting. Greenspan also highlighted the importance of quiet diplomacy and discreet efforts in conflict resolution. She is the first woman to run for this position and is showing strong support in polls, but she is expected to face objections from veto-holding countries in the Security Council.
