Foreigners in Germany: Crime Rate?
Recent studies indicate that factors contributing to crime are not limited to nationality alone but involve various elements such as age, gender, and social status. It has been shown that the proportion of crimes committed by foreigners in police statistics is higher than the percentage of offenders who are foreigners; however, when unreported crimes are taken into account, the difference between Germans and foreigners is much smaller, with the rate of crimes committed by foreigners being approximately 1.7 times higher than that of Germans after data adjustment. Levels of violence among youth are closely related to family upbringing rather than culture or origin, with 10% of non-German youth supporting violence compared to 5% of German youth. The researcher emphasizes that most foreigners do not commit violent crimes and that the overall crime rate among everyone is low. She calls for early preventative policies to enhance social skills and provide a solid infrastructure, with a focus on reducing negative perceptions surrounding immigration.
