Mauritania: Most choose National Dialogue Oversight Committee
The majority parties in Mauritania announced the formation of a supervisory committee for the national dialogue. Eight party leadership figures were chosen to participate, but the Citizenship and Justice Front party froze its relations with the coalition because it was unable to secure membership on the committee, as they announced, condemning a "unilateral" decision by the ruling El insaf party. The coordination body adopted the criterion of "electoral weight" for party representation amid internal disagreements. The concerned party rejected its designated representation, affirming that the appointment decisions were made without consensus, and stated it would only participate in the dialogue after ensuring appropriate representation. Discussions continue regarding the participation of opposition parties and the topics scheduled for the dialogue.
