19 Arab and Islamic nations oppose Colombia's Jerusalem embassy
The foreign ministers of 19 Arab and Islamic countries strongly condemned the opening of Colombia's embassy in Jerusalem, considering this step to be in conflict with United Nations Security Council resolutions and to undermine efforts for peace based on the two-state solution. The statement affirmed that any decision that alters the legal or historical status of Jerusalem or recognizes it as Israel’s capital is null and has no legal effect. They called on Colombia to reconsider its decision, comply with its legal obligations, and support the rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
