US Central Command Confirms Iran Naval Blockade
The commander of the United States Central Command (Centcom), Brad Cooper, reported that the maritime blockade imposed by the United States on Iran is ongoing and aims to hinder Iran's ability to export oil and to restrict its influence in the region. To date, this has prevented Iran from exporting oil worth at least $25 billion. Nevertheless, Iran affirmed that the Strait of Hormuz remains fully under its control and will remain closed until its rights are respected. It also indicated that any sea passage by the enemy is only possible with its permission. These statements come amid ongoing tensions following the U.S. naval blockade imposed in April 2026, after failed negotiations to end the conflict that erupted in February of the same year, prompted by Israeli and American attacks on Iran.
