Bayraktar: Turkey targets 20GW nuclear power by 2050
Turkey aims to generate 20 gigawatts of nuclear electricity by 2050 as part of its plans to meet the increasing energy demand and reduce reliance on imports. The strategy includes constructing 12 large nuclear reactors, with efforts underway to operate four reactors at the "Akkuyu" plant in collaboration with Russia's Rosatom, along with ongoing development of reactor projects in Sinop and the Thrace region. Turkey depends on nuclear energy as a key element in its future energy mix. These plans are part of a broader effort to expand energy infrastructure and enhance supply security through pipelines for gas and oil, supported by investments in grid and infrastructure development, with a focus on renewable energy technologies and efficiency.
