Arab and Islamic protests over Colombia's Jerusalem stance
Eighteen Arab and Islamic foreign ministers issued a statement opposing Colombia's opening of an embassy in occupied Jerusalem, affirming that this step contradicts Security Council resolutions and harms efforts to achieve peace based on the two-state solution. They called on the Colombian government to reverse its decision, respect international law, and uphold the rights of the Palestinian people, especially their right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. In response, Egypt summoned the Colombian chargé d'affaires in protest against this move, considering it a violation of international legitimacy resolutions, and warning of potential negative repercussions that could impact peace and stability in the region.
