The article presents the history and impact of the Barzani family on the Kurdish and Iraqi political scene since the 19th century. They led Kurdish rebellion movements and liberation struggles and held significant symbolic and political stature. The family is considered a unique model in the region, as their influence extended beyond traditional dynastic politics; they played an active role in modernizing Kurdish society through economic and social programs that promoted diversity and equality. Under the leadership of family members such as Masoud, Jafar, and Masrour, politics in the Kurdistan Region has been shaped, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, which they control, has won successive elections since 1992, maintaining a strong presence of recent generations in economic and cultural life.
