Old and new canals link regions and open up prospects
The article focused on the old and new waterway projects in the Guangxi region of China, highlighting how they connect rivers and various areas, creating economic and historical opportunities. The ancient canal, constructed over 2,200 years ago, still supports irrigation and tourism despite the advent of modern transportation methods for goods. The new canal, which opened last month, enables more efficient cargo transport by reducing the distance to the sea by over 560 kilometers and decreasing logistics costs by up to 30%. The project reflects a move toward improving the quality and efficiency of water transportation and strengthening economic links between inland regions and the coasts, representing an important achievement in China's water infrastructure.
