France protests over prices escalate
Protesters in France, including students and "Yellow Vests," demonstrated against rising living costs. The protests led to acts of violence and vandalism, such as storming buildings and setting fire to a tourism office in Lyon, in addition to attacks on media outlets and sporadic arrests. Despite this, most protests remained peaceful; however, police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. Demonstrations continued in several cities like Paris and Marseille, with main demands concerning soaring fuel prices and deteriorating education conditions, amid accusations from the government of harm caused by known extremist groups. Authorities are also investigating police use of violence during these events.
