Tunisian street issues a clear message
Thousands of people demonstrated in Tunis capital in the largest march in years, demanding the restoration of democratic freedoms, the release of political prisoners, and an end to restrictions on media and trade union activities. This protest coincided with the worsening economic and political situation in the country. The Tunisian General Labour Union and civil society led these protests, with participation from political parties and human rights organizations. Despite the ongoing concentration of power by President Kais Saied and the deepening political divisions, the opposition's ability to mobilize remains weak, and the differing stances among various groups continue. Analysts see that this march is not the start of serious dialogue with the authorities, but rather a reflection of growing public anger and political setbacks.
