Lebanese Deputy PM on Israel, Syria, Iran
Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tareq Mitri confirmed that the United States has not exerted enough pressure on Israel to fulfill its commitments regarding the gradual withdrawal from Lebanese territory. He pointed out that Israel conditions the withdrawal on the disarmament of Hezbollah, while the party insists on the withdrawal of Israeli forces, which complicates the situation. He also addressed the lack of progress in the issue of confining weapons to the state’s control and Lebanon’s stance on relations with Iran and Syria. Mitri emphasized that Lebanon has asked Iran to appoint an ambassador and is working to resolve the diplomatic issue, while Iranian flights to Beirut have been banned to protect the airport from Israeli targeted attacks.
