Gaza rubble removal with basic tools
The article highlights the efforts of Palestinian young man Ahmed Murad in removing the rubble of his destroyed home in Gaza using primitive tools, over a year after the ceasefire without any real start to the reconstruction process. It took him ten days of work to clear a portion of the debris with the help of a small team, in an attempt to prepare the land for his family’s return, who are displaced between refugee camps. The total volume of rubble in the Gaza Strip is estimated at around 68 million tons, with a reconstruction cost reaching up to $71.4 billion, while more than one million tons have been removed so far.
