Energy Agency Signals Oil Reduction
The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, confirmed that the agency is prepared to consider drawing from additional emergency oil stocks held by member countries if the crises in the Middle East worsen and market conditions require it. The decision will depend on the development of the crisis and a market assessment, without specifying the amount or timing of the draw. Emergency stockpiles are used to address supply disruptions and to mitigate the impact of major shocks on the market.
