Tunisian government cut prices amid protests
The Tunisian Ministry of Commerce plans to organize discounts on certain consumer goods through collaboration with the private sector, aiming to curb rising prices and enhance citizens' purchasing power—especially in light of the inflation rate reaching 5.6% in September and food prices increasing by 8.4%. These measures come after nationwide protests against high prices and declining purchasing power. The focus is on providing basic commodities such as sugar, rice, and flour at affordable prices as part of a comprehensive strategy to stabilize the market and address shortages. Currently, meetings are being held with relevant stakeholders to ensure the availability of these discounts, promote price stability, and improve access to vital goods for citizens.
