Iraqi Woman Reveals Husband's Bribe Wealth
An Iraqi woman filed a lawsuit against her husband, an employee at the Traffic Directorate, after discovering he had married another woman. This led to the uncovering of his involvement in financial corruption cases and accepting bribes that accumulated considerable sums of money. Investigations revealed that the husband possessed large amounts of bribe money, and the court sentenced him to prison. The authorities awarded his wife 5% of the recovered funds as a reward for her report, which contributed to the asset recovery, in accordance with a recently activated law from 2008 designed to encourage reporting corruption. Social media activists responded with sarcasm and skepticism about the wife's motives, with some believing she sought revenge after learning about her husband's other marriage, while others affirmed that she helped facilitate the recovery of public funds.
