Israel joins Pacific Islands Forum
Israel announced its accession to the Pacific Islands Forum as a partner providing expertise in climate change, water management, agriculture, innovation, and sustainable development. This decision follows a visit by the head of the Israeli International Development Agency to Fiji and Samoa, and it strengthens its relations with Pacific Island nations, which are among the most supportive of Israel internationally, with some adopting pro-Israel positions at the United Nations and opening embassies in Jerusalem. The collaboration aims to enhance Israel's influence and support developmental efforts in the region, with member countries benefiting from Israeli aid programs, such as "Mashav," which offer support in health, agriculture, and renewable energy.
