Baghdad Explosion Sparks Power Concerns
An explosion occurred at the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) east of Baghdad, sparking disagreements and differences over its causes. Reports indicate an attempt by a force linked to the Kata'ib Hezbollah to remove electronic equipment before investigators arrived, while sources spoke of an accidental incident in a storage facility for damaged ammunition. The United States is accused of targeting the site, reflecting a power struggle within the PMF. Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the incident. Meanwhile, conflicting narratives raise questions about which parties have the capability to access evidence related to the event, with potential perspectives emerging about possible escalation within the Shia environment and a reshuffling of PMF leadership.
