Hospitals in Taiz province, Yemen, are facing the risk of their vital medical services being disrupted due to the blockade imposed by the Houthi militias for the past three weeks. There is a severe shortage of fuel, oxygen, medicines, and medical supplies, threatening the lives of thousands of patients. The lack of fuel has led to the shutdown of medical equipment, the production of medical oxygen, and the provision of water and sewage services, which in turn increases the spread of diseases such as cholera and hampers the transport of critical cases. Humanitarian organizations are working to secure alternative supplies and improve access to medical services, while warnings are issued that ongoing restrictions may disrupt emergency services, dialysis, intensive care, and maternal and childbirth care.
