The Houthis seized several areas in Al-Maqatirah District, Lahij Governorate, on Friday, October 30, including the “Tunnel” area and the Al-Sawalha mountains, in a large-scale attack. Government forces and popular resistance fighters repelled attempts to capture other areas, including Al-Maqatirah Castle. Clashes are continuing, and residents reported that shelling damaged homes. The district is strategically important because it overlooks the Hijjat al-Abd road linking Taiz and Lahij.
