Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Istanbul on Saturday, where he was received by Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, for talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The talks will cover strengthening cooperation between the two countries, the Russia-Ukraine war, Black Sea security and new diplomatic opportunities, including issues related to maritime transport. Zelenskyy will also meet Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. The visit comes amid the ongoing war Russia launched on February 24, 2022, and attacks on commercial vessels and maritime facilities in the Black Sea.
