28-Year Walk Comes to End
The 57-year-old British adventurer Karl Bushby has completed a 28-year journey, covering around 50,000 kilometres across four continents on foot, from Chile to his hometown of Hull, England, without using any form of transport. He crossed the Americas and the Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia, then travelled through parts of Central Asia and Europe. His journey was repeatedly interrupted by Russia’s refusal to grant him a visa, the 2008 financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic. Around 1,000 people welcomed him in Hull, where he reunited with his family after swimming across the English Channel in early October.
