The Iranian News Agency reported hearing five explosions on Qeshm Island in southern Iran. Residents also spotted two aircraft flying overhead, while explosions were heard on Hormuz Island and in the city of Bandar Abbas. The cause was unclear, and it was not known whether they resulted from bombardment or incidents at sea. The explosions came after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it had shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone and taken control of two MQM-170 drones over Qeshm, amid military tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
