Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council appointed Major General Hussein al-Aji al-Awadhi governor of al-Bayda, and Major General Amin Ali al-Akimi governor of al-Jawf and commander of its military axis, alongside a limited cabinet reshuffle involving three portfolios. A military expert said the appointments aim to bolster the forces and rally local support for Operation “Dawn of Yemen,” paving the way for broader moves in al-Bayda and support for the fighting in al-Jawf. Al-Bayda is strategically important because shifts in the front lines there could affect eight Yemeni governorates.
