Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said fires broke out aboard two oil tankers and a tugboat in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing the vessels of attempting to use unauthorized routes. It said one tanker struck a naval mine while crossing a passage south of the strait, while the other caught fire in the eastern part. A tugboat that approached to assist it then caught fire as well. The United States did not immediately comment on the Iranian statement.
