Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad chief Roman Gofman planned to launch a military operation against Iran on the eve of the Knesset elections on October 27, but Washington stopped it after details of the plan were leaked. The channel’s sources said Israeli security officials opposed the plan, fearing major escalation and disruption of the elections. Netanyahu’s office denied the report, and the prime minister also denied earlier reports of a dispute with the military chief of staff over preparations for an operation against Iran.
