Starmer seizes Russian Shadow Fleet tanker
The Prime Minister of Britain announced the detention of the British Navy of the oil tanker Smyrtos, which is claimed to be affiliated with the so-called "Russian Shadow Fleet," in the English Channel near the Isle of Portland. This marks the first operation of its kind carried out under British leadership, in anticipation of any potential environmental or security risks. Additionally, the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on France's detainment of the oil tanker "Tägör," which was coming from a Russian port, considering it an illegal move amounting to piracy. The Kremlin, however, denied the legitimacy of France's action, pointing out that it does not comply with international law.
