The Egyptian government is working to transform the subsidy system from in-kind support, which includes goods and bread, to a targeted cash subsidy. The goal is to improve access to support for those who deserve it and to reduce waste and exploitation. They have increased the subsidy allocations to approximately 180 billion Egyptian pounds and plan to implement a new financial support system beginning with the upcoming fiscal year. The focus will be on classifying beneficiaries based on income and need in order to distribute support more fairly. This shift is considered part of the government's efforts to achieve social justice and enhance the efficiency of the subsidy system.
