The Southern Journalists and Media Professionals Syndicate Advocates for Martyrs’ Justice and Media Dignity

The Southern Journalists and Media Professionals Union, with great concern, has followed the circulating news regarding the inclusion of three individuals accused of the assassination of journalism and media witnesses in a case targeting the convoy of the former governor of Aden, as part of a prisoner exchange deal with the Houthi group. The union affirms that the blood of the martyrs is not subject to bargaining or negotiation, and that releasing them before completing the course of justice constitutes a violation of victims' rights and undermines the rule of law. It calls on the government to exclude the accused from any such deal, while insisting on the judiciary’s right to pursue legal procedures to ensure that justice is served and perpetrators are held accountable.
