Israel expels Grand Mufti of Jerusalem from Al-Aqsa Mosque for one week

The Israeli occupation forces kept the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, away from Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week, after stopping and detaining him at its gates and issuing a deportation order. According to Jerusalemite sources, 762 deportation orders were issued during the first half of 2026, targeting Palestinian figures and steadfast residents in the city, with the aim of undermining the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem.
