Lahj, Yemen: Approximately 330 Injured and Killed in Traffic Accidents During the First Half of 2023

During the first half of 2026, Lahj Governorate witnessed hundreds of traffic incidents resulting in the death of 51 people and the injury of 284 others. These accidents were caused by poor traffic awareness, deteriorating road conditions, speeding, and failure to adhere to traffic rules. Additionally, there were violations such as lack of documentation, overloading, and improper overtaking. The traffic police recorded 520 violations during this period, including illegal crossings, issues with license plates, and overloaded vehicles, all aimed at improving safety and reducing accidents.
