Traffic Police Reports 392 Deaths and 2,841 Injuries from Traffic Accidents

During the first half of 2026, traffic police recorded 2,630 traffic accidents in the liberated governorates, resulting in 392 deaths and 2,841 injuries. More than 109,000 traffic violations were also documented. Marib governorate was the most affected, with 891 accidents and 56 fatalities, in addition to the highest number of injuries. The authorities attributed the increase in accidents to human factors such as excessive speeding and overtaking, as well as non-compliance with safety rules and vehicle maintenance. The police called on drivers to adhere to traffic regulations to enhance safety and protect lives.
